This summer has seen more and more airlines experiencing challenges with complex and often antiquated IT systems. In turn, more and more passengers and crew members have been experiencing frustration with cancelled and delayed flights.
According to Mark Dunkerley, CEO of Hawaiian Airlines, such outages are usually minor and short-lived, however the resulting displacement of crew can have long-term effects on an airline’s operations.

An enhanced version of the successful "Blind Booking" variable opaque product (VOP) created by SigmaZen GmbH and powered by 2e Systems was launched on 18 May 2016 on the Lufthansa.com website. The "Lufthansa Surprise" VOP (www.lufthansa-surprise.com
) allows customers to create their own return flight solution for prices as low as €89, including all taxes and fees.

In June 2016 Swiss International Air Lines completed their migration to a new DCS. To assist the migration, 2e Systems' eeDepart solution was configured in line with the airline's flights migration schedule. The web check-in system would switch to the correct DCS according to each individual flight. This meant no manual intervention was required by Swiss staff, significantly reducing the effort required on their side.
